Biology - Group 3 (age 14+)
This introduction to biology course will cover chemistry of life, cell structure, DNA, protein synthesis, cell division, genetics, the theory of evolution and human body systems. Students will be dissecting fresh and preserved specimens.  We use two textbooks:  Exploring Creation with Biology by Wile and Durnell, 2nd edition, and High School Biology in Your Home by Bridget Ardoin, 11th edition.  Both of these texts can usually be purchased used.  Safety goggles and a lab coat or apron are also required.  Time necessary to master these topics will vary from student to student, but plan on about 4 hours of work outside of class every week.

Chemistry - Group 3 (age 14+ and have successfully completed Algebra I)
This introduction to chemistry course will cover properties of matter, elements, subatomic particles, nuclear properties, bonding, mixtures, properties of water, reactions, and acid and base chemistry.  We will use Conceptual Chemistry 4th Edition by John Suchocki.  This text can usually be purchased used.  Safety goggles and a lab coat or apron are also required.  Time necessary to master these topics will vary from student to student, but plan on about 4 hours of work outside of class every week.
